Classic Book

You can see why Mario Vargas Llosa won the Nobel Prize in Literature in his earliest work, The Time of the Hero. Set in a boy’s military school in the ’60s, he doesn’t flinch to shows all the dirty details of the wild young men hungry for respect, sex and a chance to break loose from the their daily regimens and discipline. Llosa’s prose are modern and move. He builds a world similar to Lord of the Flies except where the adults (officers running the school) find it convenient to ignore the crimes.
